YLTs Stage First Book-Based Play

Youth Literacy Theater staged their first book-based play, adapted and written by them, at both the JFK School and the South Street Community Center on February 29, 2012. The children in the audience were rapt and  participatory (mooing each time YLT Brian Nunez as Farmer Brown prompted them with click, clack!). After the 15-minute show was over, kids raised their hands to ask and answer questions about the play. Each child left the performances with their own brand new copy of Thump, Quack, Moo: A Wacky Adventure, by Doreen Cronin and illustrated by Betsy Lewin. Congratulations to the YLTs and thanks to those who have donated funds to provide the books to kids as part of this program. There are many more adaptations to come - and more books needed; we are still accepting donations here (put BOOKS in the designation field).

The chickens and the cows negotiate with Farmer Brown while the audience wonders what will happen next.
